When it comes to truck driving, it’s not all about the money. The amount of green in your pocket is always important, but it’s not the only thing that matters. Talk to most drivers and they’ll tell you that home time is one of the things they prioritize the most when choosing a carrier to work with. At USA Truck, we understand that a driver’s need for home time is as diverse as they are. That’s why we offer a number of different home time options throughout our various job opportunities. Whether it’s a consistent schedule you can rely on, getting home more often, or having weekend time at home, we have an option that will work for you. Here’s a great breakdown of some of our job opportunities that offer the most home time:
Regional routes
Regional truck drivers at USAT start off earning as much as $0.42 CPM with six months of experience and a 20-year regional pay schedule with annual increases. Our regional drivers can choose whichever home time model best suits their needs: home weekly with a 34-hour reset or out 10-14 days with one day off for every seven days out. Regional truck drivers average 2,100-2,700 miles per week. We currently have several regional route opportunities for drivers throughout the Midwest and Northeast.
Self-dispatch
We recently rolled out our Drive Your Plan self-dispatch system. This gives qualified USAT truck drivers the ability to choose their loads depending on how they want to run and get home whenever they need. The Drive Your Plan self-dispatch program is currently available for company drivers in a 75-mile radius of the following cities: Dallas and Houston, Texas; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.; West Memphis, Ark.; Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.; Joliet, Ill.; Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Ind.; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Ky.; Detroit, Mich.; and, Pittsburgh and Carlisle, Pa.
Dedicated routes
Our dedicated accounts are designed to provide consistent service to our customers while giving our drivers a predictable schedule. These routes offer a few different home time options, including regular home time on the weekends you can count on, a 34-hour reset each week or home a few times throughout the week. Pay for dedicated drivers is set up either using our zone pay system based on where the driver lives, or on an account-specific scale. Our dedicated drivers also have access to our fuel, loyalty and referral bonuses as well as the many great benefits at USAT.
We are currently hiring Class A CDL truck drivers throughout our hiring areas, but we’re especially looking for drivers who live in the following locations for our dedicated routes:
Shuttle/local runs
We also have opportunities for shuttle and local drivers at USAT. These runs give drivers daily home time on a regular schedule. If consistency and more frequent home time are most important to you, one of these roles might be the right one for you.
