Driver referrals and pay programs: How to increase your income at USA Truck

In the trucking industry, your paycheck isn’t set in stone -- or it shouldn’t be, at least. At USA Truck, we believe in compensating drivers as much as possible, which is why we offer our drivers several bonus and reward programs to increase their earning potential. We are proud to be a certified Top Pay Carrier and offer our drivers the best when it comes to overall compensation packages. Our uncapped driver referral bonus is probably our most talked about program:

As part of this referral bonus program, drivers can earn up to $4,000 for each eligible hired or leased new driver and up to $5,000 for an established team. The bonus is paid out in installments throughout the new drivers’ first six months of employment, provided that both parties are still active with USA Truck. Payments are made after orientation is completed and after the referred drivers reaches 30, 60 and 90 days as well as 6 months of active employment.

Since this bonus is uncapped, there’s no limit to how many referral bonuses a driver can earn. We also offer a $1,000 driver referral bonus for student drivers who upgrade to their own trucks and rehired drivers who have not worked with USA Truck for more than six months. These bonuses are paid out in $500 increments once the referred driver reaches 30 and 90 days of active employment.

To qualify for this bonus, drivers must submit their potential candidate for consideration through one of our approved methods. The referred drivers must also list the referring driver on their application in order for that driver to get credit for the referral.

In addition to our great driver referral program, USA Truck drivers can also earn extra income through our various bonus and pay incentive programs. These are above and beyond the typical accessorial pay that you’ll find throughout the industry. Check some of them out below:

Experience pay - USA Truck drivers are credited with up to eight years of verified driving experience when they come work for us. If you’re coming to USA Truck with any irregular route, dedicated, interstate or regional tractor trailer experience, then you have the opportunity to increase your starting pay right away.

Monthly fuel incentive - Drivers who achieve our monthly idle and fuel goals can earn an additional $0.01 CPM.

Productivity pay - Get compensated up to $0.06 CPM extra each week when you hit certain mileage goals. Team drivers can earn up to an additional $0.035 CPM.

Loyalty bonus - This is earned once drivers have been with USA Truck for two years.

Manual transmission pay - All general freight drivers who are assigned to and operating a manual transmission truck earn an additional $0.03 CPM.

Independent contractor pay program - Independent contractors who choose to commit to safety can earn extra money on each run.

Trainer pay program - Trainers receive $0.04 per dispatched mile while with a student driver. Our trainers can also earn additional productivity pay -- up to $.11 CPM - and student retention pay during the student’s first 12 months as a solo driver.
