USA Truck celebrates Founder’s Day, 39th year of operation.

USA Truck Capacity Solutions celebrated Founder’s Day here by honoring one of our founders, Robert Powell, who passed away last October.

USA Truck was founded by Mr. Powell in 1983 and hauled its first load on May 1 of that year. A former U.S. Navy fighter pilot, Mr. Powell enjoyed a twenty-year career with Arkansas Best Corp., before he and a group of managers purchased the company’s truckload division. Mr. Powell renamed the company USA Truck, and he led the 1992 initial public offering of the common stock, which still trades on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol USAK. He served USA Truck as chairman, director, president, and CEO until his retirement in 2011.

To honor his service to the country in the Navy as well as his legacy as the man who created our company, we unveiled a framed Navy football jersey and a game-worn Navy football helmet during our Founders’ Day celebration. The jersey and game-worn helmet, which are both from the 2021 Army vs. Navy game, are dedicated to the life of Mr. Powell.
