One of the biggest complaints CDL-A truck drivers have had over the years is about complicated pay plans where you feel you’re always guessing about your earnings. Sound like what you’ve been facing? Well, here at USA Truck, we’re addressing that by simplifying our driver pay package based on weekly feedback we ask drivers to give us.
Three things were on the top of the list concerning pay: Increase the rate, bonuses are confusing, and they wanted their pay to be easily understood. USA Truck listened to this driver feedback and found a way to address those concerns by creating a new uncomplicated truckload pay package effective immediately. Now, drivers will receive a higher rate per mile with no qualifiers, bonuses, or mileage bands.
NEW PAY PROGRAM DETAILS
For regional drivers, you can start off earning up to $.525 CPM with six months’ experience depending on location. That’s a $.10 CPM increase in the base pay rate! Team pay rates offer $0.625 CPM split with twelve months’ experience.
Trainer pay has been revamped with a $.10 CPM increase plus another $.04 CPM whenever students are on the truck. Productivity Pay includes up to $0.04 cents per mile extra based on training miles logged. Our Student Retention Pay adds $0.01 CPM for each loaded mile your student completes during their first twelve months as a solo driver.
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION IMPROVEMENTS
This simpler program is just one of numerous improvements USA Truck has made to driver compensation this year which focus on improving the lives of USA Truck drivers and their families. Changes have included lowered healthcare premiums, increased life insurance, added paid holidays, improved paid time off, added bereavement pay, and increased per diem. Additionally, the company has focused on creating jobs that match the lifestyle jobs sought by drivers: Company self-dispatch, home daily shuttle runs, and local jobs.
Blair Ewell, Senior Vice President of Truckload, told us, “We are delighted for the opportunity to continue to improve our culture at USA Truck. We have listened to the feedback from our drivers and are responding to that feedback. Our new simplified pay package is a significant improvement to the lives of our drivers.”
